Thor
Thor (or Tor) is, in Norse mythology, the God of natural forces, especially thunder, for strength and fertility. With his trusty hammer Mjølner, forged by the dwarves, Thor always hits his targets, and his hammer always returns to him. He has an uncontrolled temper, and is not the brightest of the bunch, but with his courage and otherworldly strength he often saves the gods from crisis and evil beings. Together with his wife Sif, he has his daughter Trud, the Goddess of strength, and his bonus son Ull, the God of hunting and skiing. He is son of the God Odin and the jotne Jord, and his adoptive uncle is Loki, which is both Odin’s and Thor’s companion on many travels. In Norwegian Thursday – Torsdag, comes from the old Thors dag (=Thor’s day).
