The Marius pattern is among the most popular classic knitting patterns in Norway!
The Marius-sweater was designed in 1953 by Unn Søiland. The Marius pattern quickly became the best selling hand-knitted pattern in Norway. Today, sweaters, mittens, hats, and all things knitted are being hand crafted in cottages and homes all over Norway. The hand-knitting renaissance has only increased the popularity of the pattern.
The pattern is closely related to Norwegians love for the outdoors; Skiing, hiking and spending time in nature is an ingrained part of Norwegian life, and the Marius pattern is there. In the very middle of the Norwegian folk-soul.
Today the pattern has spread from knitting products to all kind of clothing and interior items. We have put together a selection of our favourite products; Textile products like scarfs and socks, and also some interior design items.
Enjoy!
